January is divorce month

That's what the lawyers and market watchers say. You can do an internet search and decide for yourself. As a divorce professional, I think this perception is on point. I hear from people in the fall and suddenly the holidays are right around the corner, so they wait. I don't blame them. Most people want to get through the holidays, making one last attempt at a familiar tradition, even if it means setting aside the inevitable. We also hear from the people that want a new beginning and what better time than the start of a calendar year. Others have been planning for a while and their strategy dictates the timing after year end bonuses have been paid and tax filing status is secured. If we start the conversation in January, we can create a roadmap to resolution and a new leaf turns over in the spring.
